  • Simpson previously co-founded an AI governance and forecasting organization, and has held summer research fellowships at the Centre for the Governance of AI, and the Stanford Existential Risk Initiative.

  • Simpson worked with Robert Trager, a Professor of Political Science at the University of California, Los Angeles.

  • Simpson applied for funding to produce two whitepapers. The first would assess the need for and potential of a new 3rd-party safety organization for AI. The second would explore the potential for legal instruments to limit the spread of ideas and technical knowledge.

  • At the time of applying, several people working on governance within AI labs reported finding these research directions valuable for their work.
